SLOW your roll - did you see that?
.........Seriously what did you just miss?
When you were rushing from one task or activity to the next?
Or, should I say what did you NOT notice?
Maybe it's the new way your daughter styled her hair? Maybe a flower that decided to bloom early? Maybe the sadness in your spouse's eyes?
The thing is when we rush we don't see as much as when we slow down. This is one thing that has taken more than a few decades of rushing to learn. I spent most of my life on the hamster wheel of productivity. As exhilarating as it can be, it can keep us from noticing a lot of beauty, and have a negative effect on your body & mind.
Think for a moment about how your rushing might be impacting your heath. How is it impacting the humans you are raising?
It was a bittersweet moment recently as I tried to calm down my daughter's anxiety about possibly being late for a rehearsal and I thought - where did she learn this? Nature or Nurture? Sadly I think this is more that latter it wasn't too long ago that she was a much littler girl with a much more rushy rush mommy.
If you had told me 10 years ago that I'd have control over my anxiety and be a meditation teacher I would have said.....when pigs fly!

The thing is, when you start slowing down rather than rushing from one task/project/goal to the next you might find you start NOTICING things you didn't before.
Recently for me it was the gorgeous blue of the berries on an overgrown bush on the side of the house.
I don't know that I have ever really SEEN their beauty before. It was this that prompted me to feature this Take 5 that I recorded last May about just this thing. Scroll down for this month's FREE featured Take 5 Stretch & Breath Break.
Busy. Busy. Busy.
What are you not noticing because you are too busy? Is it just me or do you sometimes need a reminder of what you are NOT noticing? Let's slow down and see what we can notice in this month's featured Take 5 Stretch & Breath Break.
